Filming Log Two

Today me and my group decided to begin filming some test shots for the memory box shots. We spent roughly an hour filming these, testing the different lay outs and ideas for the placements of the props and just testing the different camera movements and angles we wanted to use and making sure our lighting was good. For the lighting we used one big light which at first we decided to place to the right hand side of the old man however this caused a bad shadow so we moved it to behind him.
For the shot above the old man we wanted to make sure that the memory box was cantered in the shot and that the yellow clothe made the surrounding colour rather than there being a things in the background. Creating very Wes Anderson style vibes about the shot. To film this shot we tried using a tripod and holding it in the air above the old man. To do this Me, Laine and Lilly stood on chairs, Lilly holding the end of the tripod with the camera, Laine supporting the end of the tripod keeping the balance and I was standing on a chair to the side checking if the shot was okay. The trouble with this method was that it was too difficult to execute what we envisioned and it became a challenge to stop the camera from moving. So we decided to try the shot differently. This time we decided to do it standing on the table. Lilly having the steadiest hands in the group filmed this by standing just before the yellow clothe and film by holding the camera and resting her arms on herself. These shots were more successful.
The test shots went successfully enough to give us a rough plan for when we film some of the actual shots on Friday.
