Today we filmed the kitchen scene, the memory box shots and we had to re-shoot the walking past the poppy painting as we realised that Oliver was already wearing the navy blue jumper that he would be putting on in a couple of shots time.
For the kitchen shots we had to make the tripod a lot smaller so it would fit on the work surface in order to film the man making a cup of tea. But before we filmed we decided that we preferred the shot if it were filmed on the table instead. Before we filmed we collected together a pot with tea bags in it, an old style glass sugar bowl and a floral mug with poppies on it to match the painting, along with this we had a spoon which says spoon on it. The first few takes of this shot was done just on the white table but we decided it was too white and it also created a glare from wear the sunlight reflected in it. To overcome this we decided that we was going to use a table clothe. Laine luckily had one a faded green one at hand that we was able to use. This specific shot we had to do a few times due to either making mistakes with the tea making or placing a prop in the wrong place. But in the end we got a shot that we was all mutually pleased with.
The next shot that we filmed was the re-filming of the walking past the poppy painting. This time around we got it right and we filmed it without the jumper. This shot was really quick to film as it is so simple.
For the memory box shot we decided to use pictures instead of filming the guy putting the items in like we originally was planning to do. We started by taking a photo of the closed box the cutting to it open and empty and then one item at a time I would add it and Oliver would take the picture. We had to do this twice to get the perfect shot.
Today was our last day of filming and we were all mutually happy with how all the shots turned out.
