Response to Feedback

After watching the first edit with the class and receiving feedback, me, Lilly and Oliver decided that that we needed to change our ideas, techniques of filming and we needed more footage as well as to re-film previous footage.
A major change we have decided to make is a change to the narrative as this occurred in the feedback a lot, many saying it was 'unclear'. Taking this on board we decided that instead of having the main character as an old man the film would be from the grandson or the sons perspective. This change will allow us to add more shots of the main character in the title sequence which would help make the narrative more clear.
As a group we took inspiration from 'Garden state', which almost has a Wes Anderson air to some of the shots due to the use of symmetry ... for example :

We also discussed adding shots such as the guy getting changed, maybe doing up a bow tie or zipping up a coat of some sort. Moreover a low angle shot of the character walking, as well as a shot of a record player and possibly a cassette player. Not only would these shots extend the variety of cinematography ('lack of' mentioned in the feedback) but it would also build the audiences knowledge of our main character and the narrative of the piece.

Another problem with the title sequence was that of the setting. The background that we used for the memory box shots (yellow clothe) was creased and it was badly visible on the camera. We had previously noticed this before and it had been ironed after that however some of the creases just weren't coming out so we have decided to use a different background. The carpets in Laine's house are old fashioned and would work really well for the new backing. So we have decided to film that on Sunday.

We also need to work out what soundtrack we are going to use for the title sequence as that is missing from our first edit as we have not yet added it and this was picked up on in the feedback.

Lighting also was called on to be improved as in the memory box shot half the shot was darker than the other. And we also know that the shots in Laine's house has bad lighting as we used natural lighting and that kept changing as we filmed as i was unpredictable.
