The Todorov Theory

Equilibrium- The film will begin with the main character, Walter Murphy, being visited by his son and grandchildren. The visit is in aid of Walter and his late wife, Catherine, 50^th wedding anniversary.

Disruption- Walter’s grandchildren begin to ask questions about their grandma so he goes upstairs to get a photo album to show his grandchildren, whilst retrieving the photo album he comes across boxes of memorabilia, due to this Walter starts experiencing flash backs as the belongings he finds remind him of his past. 

Disequilibrium- He comes across his old army uniform and medals, this reminds him when he was sent away from whom he was loved by. The only company he had was his friend, Harry, who helped him through the war. Sadly one month before the war came to an end Harry was hit by a bomb along with three other men from their platoon. Other flashbacks include; when and how Walter met Catherine, their first date, their wedding day and honeymoon, the birth of their first child, Catherine's diagnosis and also the emotional day when Catherine passed away.

Repair- Whilst re-living moments of his past and reminiscing Walter has a chance to reflect and gain closure on his wife's death, he realises that they had an amazing life. His son and grandchildren are here to support him.

New Equilibrium- The film will end with Walter returning to the living room with the photo albums. Walter is grateful for the memories life he made with his wife, the film is symbolic of life and loss.

Narrative And Genre (Part 3)

Group: Me, Laine, Lilly and Oliver.

In this meeting we decided as a group to completely change our title sequence idea. 
Our new genre is drama. 
As a group we decided to have the narrative about the life of an elderly man. The film that we are making the title sequence about would be based on the story of the mans life. Made up of flashbacks and memories. 
For this we decided that the man would pick different items up each leading to a flashback memory. For example sentimental items such as: an old photo album, wedding rings, name tag from evacuation, old train tickets, an old watch, passport and the stamps from different countries. All of which would be connected to specific events in his life.
We also came up other details such as: maybe his best friend died in the war, he has grandchildren or his wife is dead. 

Narrative And Genre Idea (Part2)

Group: Me, Lilly, Laine and Oliver.

As a group we changed our narrative from the psycho killer storyline to one about a OCD teenage boy. The genre was also changed from thriller to dark comedy.
During this discussion when we changed our initial idea we spoke about the character that we wanted to create and a rough idea of what would happen.
We decided that the teenage boy would only have one friend and would be quite weird and seen as n outsider. He would live with his nan and he would struggle socially. Possibly having autism.
The rough narrative idea is that the boy would get angry over something simple for example somebody breaking his pencil or sitting in 'his' chair. The boy would then plan to murder this other child. During this time he befriends the schools janitor and tells him his plan. When the boy tries to execute his plan the janitor steps in and stops hm bt kills the victim himself.

Narrative And Genre Idea (Part 1)

Group: Me, Oliver, Lilly and Laine 

For our title sequence we decided we wanted to do a thriller.

Our narrative idea for the title sequence is based around a OCD psycho serial killer. As a group we discussed the idea of the title sequence starting with him in an office building surrounded by people working at their desks. Then he would pick up his belongs to make his way home. Unknown to the audience he is going home to prepare to murder somebody. On his way home he would go into a shop where the OCD part of the character would become clear. He would walk up to the fridge I the shop and choose a bottle of water, counting three back from the front and then checking the seal. When the character pays for the water we decided he would open a wallet where his money would be intricately categorised and then he would count out the precise amount of coins. To continue this OCD characteristic we decided the man would have a bottle of antibacterial hand gel that he would be seen using regularly.
On the journey home he would reach his street and every time he past a lamp post credits would appear and disappear on the side of his briefcase.

When he arrives home he goes into a room where he opens his briefcase and the camera would be positioned from a birds eye view making only his hands and the open case visible. 

We decided that the man would empty the contents of the case placing each item in right angles neatly next to the case and then he would place new items into the case in an OCD manner. These items we decided would include rope, a knife, clean scalpels and other sinister objects. This would be accompanied by a soundtrack that helps to establish the genre.
